Telangana to launch ₹5 lakh life insurance for families on November 19
Eligible Telangana families will get ₹5 lakh life cover from a November 19 launch in Siddipet. Applications open on November 20 and close on November 30.

If you live in Telangana, mark two dates: November 19 and November 20. The state government will roll out a ₹5 lakh (₹500,000) life insurance cover for every eligible family, and applications open the very next day.
What happened?
The decision came at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy briefed the media afterwards.
The scheme will be launched at a public meeting in Siddipet on November 19, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The second phase of Indiramma saree distribution will also be launched at the same event.
How do you apply?
Applications will be accepted from November 20 to November 30. You won't need to chase an office: Indiramma committees will visit every household in villages across the state to collect forms.
Tahsildars (local revenue officials) and gram panchayat (village council) secretaries will receive the applications.
Diwali in Indiramma houses
The Cabinet also decided that Ministers, MLAs and MLCs (state legislators) will celebrate Deepavali inside Indiramma houses, together with the families living there. Indiramma is the state's housing scheme for poor families, which began in March 2025.
More than 2.25 lakh of these houses are already complete, and celebrations will be held in all of them. Revanth Reddy will take part in his Kodangal constituency.
Other Cabinet decisions
- Separate SC and ST commissions: Each will have a chairman and five members, to speed up the handling of complaints.
- Shorter appeal window: The Cabinet approved amending Section 12(A) of the Telangana Survey and Boundaries Act, 1923. The time to appeal against survey and boundary notices drops from 60 days to 30.
- 136 posts for courts: 56 are for new Junior Civil Judge-cum-Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate courts at Kataram and Elkathurthy. The other 80 are for courts at Siddipet, Mahabubabad, Choutuppal and Vemulawada.
- Fire safety: An Ordinance will amend the Telangana Fire Service Act, 1999, to strengthen fire prevention and response.
What's next?
All eyes now turn to Siddipet on November 19, when the insurance scheme formally starts. The 11-day application window then opens on November 20.
