Mohamed Salah doesn't hide when things go wrong. After Trabzonspor lost 1-0 to Germany's Freiburg in the Conference League on Thursday, the Egyptian captain put his hand up.

"Fabinho and I know we weren't at our best tonight," he said, standing beside his Brazilian teammate. "I had chances I should have taken."

Lukas Kübler scored in the 14th minute, and that was enough. The defeat ended a run of seven straight wins in all competitions. Salah was behind most of the home side's attempts to equalise, but keeper Mio Backhaus kept saving them, and another effort was blocked in stoppage time.

"That's football," Salah added. "You can't disappear when things go badly. We have to stick together, especially on nights like this."

Coach Thomas Reis agreed on the key moments. "We conceded from a simple mistake," he said, praising a strong second-half reaction.

Trabzonspor are 12th in the league phase on 6 points, level with 14th-placed Freiburg. Next up is Alanyaspor away in the Turkish league on Sunday, before a two-week international break.
