Lotte Himart kicks off its biggest appliance sale of the year, running through Nov. 30

Thinking about finally replacing that old fridge? Lotte Himart, one of South Korea's biggest electronics retailers, has just launched its largest appliance sale of the year.

The "Himart Black Friday" event runs at stores nationwide and online until Nov. 30, the company announced on Nov. 6.

Online, shoppers can get a 10,000 won (about US$7) Black Friday coupon until Nov. 15. Only 5,000 coupons are available online and another 5,000 in stores, and they work on purchases of 300,000 won or more.

Cashback and instant discounts are also on offer for items such as kimchi refrigerators from Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, and Cuckoo rice cookers.

In stores, an "LG year-end festa" targets people moving house or buying appliances for a wedding, with special prices on refrigerators and washing machines. Buy two or more items at once and you can save up to 6 million won, depending on how many you buy.

A limited, first-come-first-served batch of multi-cookers, bathroom scales, car vacuum cleaners and hair dryers will sell for just 9,900 won each.

"This is the event where Lotte Himart offers its biggest benefits of the year," said Kim Bo-kyung, head of the merchandise division. He hopes customers can buy appliances they have been eyeing at close to the lowest prices of the year.
