Kanika Kapoor steps out at Manish Malhotra's Diwali party days after divorce news

Singer Kanika Kapoor has made her first public appearance since announcing her divorce. She chose one of Bollywood's biggest nights of the season: designer Manish Malhotra's Diwali party in Mumbai.

She wore a shimmery silver saree and shared a few pictures from the evening on her Instagram Story.

What happened at the party?

In the first photo, Kanika poses with host Manish Malhotra. She thanked him with the words, "Thank you MM for a wonderful evening."

Another picture shows her pulling goofy faces with Rasha Thadani, actor Raveena Tandon's daughter, and actor Tamannaah. She also posted a photo with Veer Pahariya.

Actor Sayani Gupta shared a group selfie that features Kanika with Aarav Kumar, Akshay Kumar's son, and actor Bhumi Pednekar.

The party drew plenty of A-listers. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, Gauri Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Parineeti Chopra and Karisma Kapoor were among those who arrived in their festive best.

What happened before?

Kanika married London-based businessman Gautam Hathiramani in an intimate ceremony in London in 2022. They had known each other for about 15 years.

On November 3, she announced the split on Instagram Story. "After much thought and consideration, my husband and I are going our separate ways," she wrote. She said she was grateful for the time they shared and wished him well. She also asked for kindness and respect for her privacy.

A quick look at her story

This is her second marriage to end. Kanika married businessman Raj Chandok in 1998, when she was 18, and moved to London. They have three children: daughters Aayana and Samara, and son Yuvraaj.

The couple separated in 2012, and she returned to India to build a music career. Her breakthrough came in 2014 with Baby Doll from the film Ragini MMS 2. The same year she also had Lovely from Happy New Year, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
