Chocolate and spicy rice crackers sound like an odd pair. Shoppers at Kaldi Coffee Farm (Japan's popular import and snack food chain) seem to disagree.

The store's Kaki no Tane Chocolate Bar costs 127 yen including tax. Kaki no tane are small, crescent-shaped, soy-sauce-flavoured rice crackers with a peppery kick. As of 4 November 2026, the online store still labels the bar "NEW", but it is already out of stock. It also ranks fifth on the bestseller list.

Our reviewer found it packed with crackers and nuts. Every bite crunches, and the sweet-salty balance works. The richness of the chocolate holds its own, the nuts add a toasty note, and the spicy kick of the crackers lingers. One bar was enough to feel satisfied.

Reviewers on the official site agree. Comments include "I buy it every year" and "I want 50 bars." In stores, the bars were stacked in a prominent spot.
