A court has seen CCTV of the moment a Nottingham Forest fan stepped in to stop the man accused of the Huntingdon train stabbings from reaching frightened passengers.

The footage was shown to jurors at Cambridge Crown Court. It comes from the London-bound LNER service attacked on 1 November 2025.

What happened?

Anthony Williams, 33, is accused of stabbing 10 people on the train shortly after it left Peterborough. Police charged him with 10 counts of attempted murder. About 11 people were injured in the attack, and the train was diverted to Huntingdon station.

The CCTV shows passengers running down narrow corridors and crowding into the kitchen of the buffet carriage. They managed to close the metal door just as Williams appeared round the corner.

What does the footage show?

Stephen Crean was standing by the buffet car door. In the video, he jumps out at Williams and tries to wrestle a large blade from him.

He pins Williams in a corner and pushes him away. Williams is then seen in the corridor, kicking Crean's cap and phone, which had fallen on the floor.

Other footage shows staff and passengers confronting Williams with saucepans and kitchen equipment to defend themselves.

Jurors had already watched Crean's police interview. He said a girl ran past screaming about a "man with a knife". He said he walked towards Williams to lead him away from the buffet car.

Crean said Williams asked him, "do you want to die?" and pulled out a blade. He said he "went for that knife" and that his fingers were cut in the struggle. Afterwards he locked himself in a toilet and called 999.

What's next?

The trial is continuing at Cambridge Crown Court, and Williams is described as the alleged attacker until the jury reaches its verdict. Crean was left with multiple injuries after the incident.
