Two days after Ana Obregón's public apology, Antonia Dell'Atte has answered, and she did not hold back. On Thursday she posted a long message on Instagram, then deleted it shortly afterwards.

What happened?

The Italian former model (61) wrote that she accepts Obregón's apology and repentance, "hoping it is sincere". But she added: "After 35 years, you have admitted that you covered up and defended my abuser, Alessandro Lecquio."

She opened with a pointed line: "The greatness of noble people is to save others. I, Ana Obregón, saved you from a conviction and from going to prison." She also said she hoped this was the last time she gave Obregón this chance, as she had done privately in the past.

The post ended with a postscript: "False complaints do not exist... and the one I filed in 1991 for abuse is genuine."

Dell'Atte also shared a carousel of images in which she compares herself to an eagle that rises higher instead of fighting the crows pecking at it. The crows carry words such as "liar" and "abuser". She also confirmed that a trial was due, in which Obregón was to be a defendant over her 2021 claims.

What had happened before?

On 9 March 1991, Dell'Atte filed a complaint against her then-husband Lecquio at a Madrid police station for abandonment and physical and psychological abuse. She later withdrew it, saying she was afraid for her son and alone in Spain.

On Tuesday, Obregón (71) apologised on Instagram. She admitted that in April 2021 she had accused Dell'Atte of forging that complaint without proof. She said she acted unaware of final court rulings that found no forgery, and ended with: "I'm so sorry, Antonia." Her post has about 25,000 likes and comments are closed.

That day, Dell'Atte reacted only through a journalist on a radio show. The message said Obregón had exposed her "abuser" Lecquio.

What's next?

Obregón's apology came just days before the trial in which she was to face this issue. Dell'Atte's deleted post makes clear she sees the apology as late, even if she accepts it.

Neither side has said more for now.
